Mobile and Embedded Applications Group at ZST Division, IT WUT
Mobile and Embedded Applications Group is a team dealing with modern IT/Telecomunications technologies mainly ubiquitous/pervasive computing and mobile ad-hoc networks. We emphasize a hands-on approach and want to master the technologies by getting familiar with existing solutions, designing our own and developing software and hardware projects.
Currently MEAG main research projects as European Sixth Framework Programme partner are:
POBICOS Platform for Opportunistic Behaviour in Incompletely Specified, Heterogeneous Object Communities
MIDAS Middleware Platform for Developing and Deploying Advanced Mobile Services
SIMS Semantic Interfaces for Mobile Services
We develop new middleware platform as a part of project founded by Polish Ministry of Science and Information Society Technologies:
ROVERS Middleware for Ad-Hoc Peer-to-Peer Ubicomp Systems
Moreover, we want to demonstrate usefulness of sensor-based environmental monitoring using satellite network (in TWISTER - European Sixth Framework Programme)
TWISTER Terrestrial Wireless Infrastructure integrated with Satellite Telecommunications for E-Rural
Our interests cover:
Ubiquitous/pervasive computing:
- smart devices
- middleware technologies
- device aggregation/coalitions
- ontologies for ubiquitous computing
Enabling Technologies:
- small electronic devices (e.g. cell/smart phones, PDAs)
- wireless technologies (e.g. Bluetooth, WLAN, ZigBee, RFID)
- open programmable platforms for both small devices/terminals (e.g. J2ME) and telecommunication (e.g. OSA/Parlay APIs)
- mobile ad-hoc networks
- peer-to-peer solutions
